“In my 5-week PYLP journey, it really gave me a life-changing and amazing experience. PYLP provided great speakers in different sessions that really changed my perspectives in everything. Aside from that, PYLP also offered an intercultural exchange. They will let you stay with your host family for 2 weeks that will let you experience how American family works and they will also let you meet and interact with other high school students. Overall, PYLP is a good place for learning and developing your abilities as a leader.”
Datu Farhan A. Alon Youth Participant, Maguindanao
Bring the Filipino Culture into your home, family and community by hosting a Philippine Youth Leadership Program (PYLP) Participant. By hosting a student for two weeks, you’ll share cultures and form bonds that last a lifetime.
These extraordinary youth and adult leaders are from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and its surrounding provinces.
Participants are expected to participate in all family activities during their off days from leadership training at NIU. Volunteer host families support exchange students by providing a comfortable, nurturing home, nutritious meals and transportation to and from the NIU campus..
